Location

Along the river IJssel

Ever since my art school days, painting the down-to-earth beauty of the Dutch landscape has been a regular practice. Living by the river IJssel for more than two decades, it's been my constant companion – a source of calm, joy, and creative spark. The Dutch landscape has inspired painters for centuries, from the classics like Ruysdael and Vermeer to more recent names like Weissenbruch and Mauve.

I keep it simple with my small-scale plein-air landscape paintings, using oil paint and a portable easel. This setup lets me capture the everyday charm of the Dutch scenery right where it happens. No fancy studios needed – just me, my paints, and the great outdoors.

I'm not reinventing the wheel here. I'm just doing what painters have been doing for ages – finding inspiration in the world around us. It's about being in the moment, soaking in the natural vibes, and putting it on canvas.

These paintings are my way of tipping my hat to the artists who came before me and found something special in the Dutch landscape. It's my nod to the simple, timeless beauty that's been captivating painters for generations. Each brushstroke is a nod to the scenes that have kept me company for years, just like they did for the greats who painted before me.
