As a researcher, how do you keep your own blind spots in check? I built an AI assistant for it. 🤖
In qualitative research, the researcher is the primary instrument. This means self-reflection isn’t a luxury; it’s a methodological necessity. But how do you structure that process and avoid getting stuck in your own assumptions?
My answer: an automated research infrastructure. This past week, I built an N8N workflow that analyzes my audio journals. The most interesting part? An AI I’ve programmed to act as a ‘critical friend’. Every week, the system analyzes my reflections, identifies patterns, asks critical questions, and provides feedforward. It’s a deliberate intervention to enhance my own reflexivity and mitigate cognitive biases.
By leveraging technology in this way, my research process becomes not only more efficient but also methodologically more transparent and robust. It’s fascinating to see how AI can help sharpen us as researchers. 🧪💡
