"'Whenever I climb, I am followed by a dog called 'Ego'" is an exploration of the deeper layers of human consciousness and the internal dialogue each person engages in, challenging the viewer to reflect on their own inner journey.
"'Whenever I climb, I am followed by a dog called 'Ego'" is a site-specific artwork that tells a story about creativity, identity, ego, and the existential doubts inherent in self-exploration. Created by the artist Janko Bartelink as part of the Cross-TIC Time Based Media open call, this work takes the viewer on an introspective journey through a virtual landscape populated by abstract figures and animated charcoal drawings.

The multimedia installation consists of 4 to 7 screens and/or projections in various sizes, each displaying a self-repeating animated video loop. Each screen reveals a unique facet of the story, while the accompanying soundtrack enhances the contemplative nature of the work. The video loops, inviting repeated observation, add layers that evoke deeper meanings and emotions.
The installation is best experienced in a space with thoughtful linearity in the flow. Whether it's interconnected rooms, a long corridor, a staircase, or an environment where such flow can be created, the visitor is invited to move from screen to screen, seamlessly connecting the individual elements of the narrative.
